WHAT ARE LIFE GROUPS?

Life Groups at DLC are small communities of 4–15 people who meet weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly in homes, coffee shops, and online to share life together. These groups create intentional spaces for fellowship, Bible study, prayer, and spiritual development - helping believers grow deeper in Christ while offering a welcoming environment for those seeking to learn more about God and faith.

Through our two Life Group pathways, people can find meaningful connection and intentional spiritual development:

Affinity groups

Connection. Prayer. Spiritual Support.

Bring people together around shared interests or life stages to build authentic, Christ-centered relationships. While these groups may not follow a formal Bible study curriculum, every gathering is intended to strengthen faith, build community and help people take their next step with Jesus.

Spiritual Development Groups

Study. Discipleship. Growth.

Groups growing deeper in their relationship with Jesus through intentional discipleship, Scripture, and authentic community. Through sermon-based discussions or bible studies, these groups help you deepen your understanding of Scripture, grow in spiritual maturity, and become equipped to live out your faith every day.

Frequently asked questions

Everyone is welcome to join a Life Group. Our Life Groups are designed to create a welcoming environment where people from all walks of life can come as they are, build meaningful relationships, and grow in community together.

Anyone who has completed our iDiscover Class is eligible to lead a Life Group. While we encourage leaders to have previously participated in a Life Group to gain firsthand experience, it is not a requirement. We welcome individuals who are passionate about helping others grow in their faith and building authentic community.

To become a Life Group Leader, simply complete the application linked below. Once your application is submitted, our Spiritual Development team will review it and follow up with you within 2–3 business days regarding the next steps.

While Affinity Groups are built around shared interests or life stages, they are more than social gatherings. Every Affinity Group is intended to create opportunities for prayer, spiritual encouragement, Christ-centered relationships, and mutual support. Although these groups may not follow a formal Bible study curriculum, they are expected to reflect the mission, values, and biblical beliefs of  DLC while helping people grow in community and take their next step with Jesus.

Spiritual Development life group leads will have access to a curated library of biblically aligned resources, including RightNow Media content. Other resources will be submitted for approval by the SD Leadership Team.

Life Groups meet during two seasons each year:

  • Spring Season: March–June
  • Fall Season: September–December

All Life Group Leaders serve as representatives of our church and are expected to lead in a way that reflects the mission, values, and biblical beliefs of Discover Life Church. Every Life Group Leader is asked to read and agree to our Spiritual Development Leadership Covenant before leading a group. The covenant outlines the biblical expectations for ministry leaders. This helps ensure every Life Group is a safe, healthy, and spiritually encouraging place where people can grow in their faith and build meaningful relationships.
