At Discover Life Church, our mission is to create safe environments where individuals discover their purpose, develop their potential, and are deployed into a life of kingdom service. Our DLC Scholarship Program is an extension of that mission—an investment in students stepping into their next season with faith and purpose. Whether you’re a graduating senior or pursuing continued education or training, these three scholarship opportunities are designed to support your growth and launch you into impact.
This year, DLC is honored to offer three scholarship opportunities, each designed to celebrate your growth, support your future, and launch you into impact. DLC Scholarships
Our ministry is committed to providing environments where young people can discover their purpose, develop their potential, and be deployed into a life of kingdom service. The Next Gen Influencer Scholarship is a tangible expression of this commitment.
We are seeking a high school senior who demonstrates a proactive, bold, and unapologetically godly influence within their relational circles. The recipient is a student who is actively leveraging their gifts—whether in the classroom, on the field, or online—to fulfill their purpose and lead others toward truth.
Required Submission: To complete your application, you must submit a video answering the question: How are you a next-generation influencer?
- Your video should specifically address how you are developing the spiritual and leadership potential necessary for deployment in the next phase of your life.
The All Around Excellence Scholarship is awarded to a student who exemplifies our mission to discover purpose, develop potential, and be deployed into a life of kingdom service. This recipient consistently demonstrates leadership capacity by setting a high standard across all areas of life and positively influencing others through character, discipline, and integrity.
Consideration is given to students who pursue excellence in academics, civic and community engagement, extracurricular involvement, and personal development. The selected student reflects maturity, initiative, and a commitment to living with purpose and impact.
In honor of the life, leadership, and lasting impact of Dr. James and Maxine Singleton, this Legacy Scholarship celebrates their deep commitment to education, excellence, and opportunity. Dr. and Mrs. Singleton were passionate advocates for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the pursuit of STEM-related fields, believing education to be a powerful pathway to generational growth and community impact.
Discover Life Church is proud to award this scholarship to a student who plans to attend an HBCU or pursue a degree in a STEM-focused field in the upcoming fall semester. This highest-tier award honors students who demonstrate academic dedication, perseverance, and a clear vision for how their education will be used to create lasting influence and legacy.
Application Requirements
Our complete scholarship application is digital and can be completed directly on our website. Please be prepared to upload the following supporting documents to your application file:
1. An unofficial and recent high school transcript, showing cumulative grade point average and class standing/rank.
2. Two (2) Signed letters of recommendation from the following: (1) Community - an employer, community member, club sponsor, coach, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s character, experience and involvement and (2) Church - a person who is an active member of Discover Life Church. Letters may NOT come from family members.
3. Student Resume
4. Essay. On a separate sheet, please address the following questions, in 300-500 words:
- How has Discover Life Church impacted your life and how have you impacted DLC?
- In what ways has your faith impacted your life?
- Share your personal religious beliefs and give specific examples of how your beliefs guide you in how you live your daily life.
- Why is the Discover Life Church scholarship important to you?

Frequently Asked Questions
A: Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a member of Discover Life Church for at least six (6) months.
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award.
- Applicant must have minimum unweighted G.P.A. of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and maintain a G.P.A. of 2.0 during 1st semester of college to receive full scholarship amount.
- Applicant must be accepted at and attend an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university. (Verification of enrollment must be presented before any funds will be disbursed)
A: The scholarship application portal is open NOW! The deadline for all applications for the 2024-2025 school year will close Friday, March 1st at 11:59pm.
A: Once the deadline has passed the Scholarship Committee will review all submissions submitted by the due date. All applicants will be notified via email of the Committee’s decision by the 1st week of April. Award recipients will be publicly announced to the congregation at the Graduate Recognition Service during 2nd service on May 19, 2024.
A: The business office of Discover Life Church will coordinate the distribution of the award directly to the recipient’s confirmed choice of college or university. (Proof of acceptance into an accredited college/institution is required prior to receipt of funds).
A: At this time, our scholarships are only available for graduating high school seniors, who will be pursuing college as an undergraduate student.
- Scholarship amounts will range from $1,000 to $5,000 based on the decision of the Scholarship Committee.
